I have just been diagnosed with asthma and I am a competitive athlete and have never had asthma. this past friday I had to relocate out of my unit to the unit of some friends along with my cat as I have been made so ill. A lot of places in DC seem to be forcing out the smokers. And they all come to the Virginia suburbs, so the problem comes with them. Cigar smoke from a neighbor was coming through an adjoining wall (my closet) and sometimes in the main door as well. I complained to the property manager and was told there was nothing to be done - that others had a right to smoke in their units and the fact that it was drifting into mine was not their problem. I did not stay in that building long, but I hope they have become more enlightened through the years. Renter beware!
